Determination of Economic, Fiscal and Sectoral Factors of Carbon Pricing and Sectoral Marginal Abatement Cost Curves for Turkey – 1st Evaluation Meeting

The 1st evaluation meeting was held on 5 July 2017, with the participation of private and public stakeholders, at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Ankara.

 

In the scope of the Partnership for Market Readiness (PMR); “Determination of Economic, Fiscal and Sectoral Factors of Carbon Pricing and Sectoral Marginal Abatement Cost Curves for Turkey” project will model the potential impacts of carbon pricing. During the modeling , multiple modeling tools will be used together. These are: The Vivid Economy-wide Model (ViEW), The Industrial Market Model of Vivid Economics (IMM), The Integrated MARKAL-EFOM System (TIMES) Model and The Sectoral Marginal Abatement Cost Curves (MACC).

Executives of this project are; Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation – General Directorate of Environmental Management – Department of Climate Change, PMR Turkey Team and the World Bank. Project advisors are experts of Ecofys, Vivid Economics, Life Enerji and Asst. Assoc. Dr. Kemal Sarıca, who is working at the Department of Industrial Engineering at Işık University as Assistant Professor.

Project activities started with the participation of private and public sectors stakeholders in between 8-9 March with the guidance meeting that took place in Ankara. Right after this meeting, modeling works have been initiated with the active participation of stakeholders in private and public sectors. The first evaluation of these modeling works was carried out with the participation of stakeholders in the private and public sectors with the 1st Evaluation Meeting that held on 5 July 2017. The project team will continue to work on modeling with the feedback from the stakeholders and the 2nd evaluation meeting of the project will be held within the coming days.
